On April 22, 2019, teachers Todorka Nane and Nadica Nane carried out the daily activity “Herbarium” as part of the monthly topic “Collections” from the Eco Section of the Annual Program for extracurricular intercultural activities for the fifth grade.

The activity began with research on the Internet in order to familiarize the students with the solar system, the planets and their position in relation to the Sun, followed by a discussion on Earth Day – April 22 (when and where it began to be marked, why it is marked, what is the meaning of it, etc.). In the main part of the activity, the students worked in two groups in which by coloring they marked the terrestrial and aquatic part of the planet Earth and arranged the planets in the solar system in relation to the Sun.

The aims of this activity are to encourage eco-awareness among students for responsible behavior towards the planet Earth, by marking the Earth Day, encourage cooperation between students and teachers from both groups, encourage and support a positive socio-emotional climate in the group as well as to enrich the active vocabulary of students with new concepts in the field of the Solar System.
