We are pleased to announce that Nansen Dialogue Centre Skopje is the implementing partner for Macedonia for the project GEAR (Global Education and Active Response) for protection of human rights, inclusion and democratic values in intercultural societies, developed by CSO GONG from Croatia.

The GEAR Project will enable improvement of existing programs for social inclusion and civic/intercultural education in cooperation between high schools and civil society organisations. Some programs have a long tradition of implementation at national level in particular countries, but those will also be advanced and upgraded at transnational level according to actual requirements. The Project will allow transnational exchange of existing successful practices between partners and teachers from different countries. Activities will include young people, teachers and educators/trainers from civil society organisations.

The goal of GEAR Project is to contribute intercultural understanding through cooperation between civil society organisations and formal education system, teachers and students and to encourage exchange, advancement and improvement of existing positive practices in global, civic and intercultural education between schools at local, regional, national and transnational level. General goal of the Project is promotion of democratic values, fundamental rights, intercultural understanding and active citizenship and prevention of violent radicalization. This Project is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The Project is implemented in cooperation with 11 partners – civil society organisations, teachers, students and schools from five European countries: Croatia, Italy, Spain, Slovenia and Macedonia. The goal of this Project is promotion of democratic values, fundamental rights, intercultural understanding and active citizenship and prevention of violent radicalization. Following civil society organisations are included in the GEAR Project: GONG, Nansen Dijalog Centar (Croatia), Mirovni Inštitut (Slovenia), Gruppi di Solidarieta’ Internazionale Italia – GSI Italia (Italy), Fundación Educativa y Asistencial Cives (Spain) and Nansen Dialogue Centre Skopje (Macedonia), as well as School of Economics and Tourism Daruvar, Primary School Siniša Glavašević, Primary School Dalj (Croatia), OSTU Gostivar and MPS Liria (Macedonia).

The Project includes education for teachers and educators at national level and three-day transnational exchange and education for teachers, training for young promoters of tolerance and interculturalism at national level and two-day transnational exchange and training for young people, implementation of school projects on inclusion and protection of human rights in local communities, provision of quality and improvement of curricula in particular countries, and national and transnational networking and exchange of successful practices regarding the promotion of democratic values, fundamental rights, intercultural understanding and active citizenship.
